Something I’ve been thinking about lately is that small moment in “Air Turtle” where immediately after the Daves lose yet another game, Leo says how sorry he is and how he’s doing his best as the mascot. This moment is so short but it’s honestly jam-packed with a whole heap of characterization.

His need to apologize for things clearly not his fault - especially when it feels like he messes up the job he was given despite doing the best he can (the phrase “it’s not about you” takes a new meaning when this is one of the lessons to be learned from that - that he is not always solely responsible for things going wrong), his need to save face and make a connection with an older adult man in his life (something he consistently does throughout the series - he’s got a few daddy issues, always collecting potential father figures, it’s no wonder he jumps at the bit to keep rapport), and the way he sounds and looks and the words he chooses really pushes how he is just a kid (“Mr. the Dunk, I’m so sorry”).

Like I know it’s a one off moment that doesn’t truly mean much, but when put against the rest of the series it works really well with the rest of Leo’s established character and helps in solidifying later concepts as well.

#rottmnt #rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles #rottmnt leo #rise leo #rottmnt headcanons #am I looking too much into things? almost assuredly yes #I actually appreciate how tim immediately goes ‘it’s not your fault’ as well? like he could’ve just blamed this 15/16 year old but he didn’t #but yeah this moment got to me a little mainly because it made me realize that Leo…DOES take responsibility for things a lot #he messes up a ton yeah but he says sorry at a pretty consistent rate #and y’know thinking about it #THIS IS TINFOIL HAT TERRITORY BE WARNED #he’s mentioned being betrayed by his brothers before - I wonder if it was something as simple as taking the fall for like #breaking something of Splinters or whatever #point is it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for him to get the full blame for something only partially his fault #or not his fault at all in some cases #like in bug busters where Raph gets mad at Leo for not getting captured with them #(I understand Raph’s mindset here a ton - Raph’s the leader and he’s likely lashing out so I don’t blame the poor kid)#but this plus the moment at the beginning of the movie #where only Leo is reprimanded despite Mikey and Donnie having full autonomy to join the fun pizza stacking #make no mistake this is not at all a diss on everyone else!!! it’s just something I noticed #I think that “it’s not about you” doesn’t just pertain to being arrogant and wanting the spotlight #I think it’s also about how responsibility is meant to be shared #and like #Leo DOES mess up a lot! so he’s honestly probably used to having the blame because it is often at least somewhat warranted #he’s specifically described as being good at apologizing after all #tldr: Leo messes up a lot of the time so he is very used to blame and attention both good and bad #even when the full blame should not be solely on his shoulders

Last week of school which means I’m finally kinda locking in with my outfit game

#tomorrows gonna be simple but still good #warmer later in the day so thinner clothes #got these cheesey paper-sounding generic brand ‘wide leg’ cargos #theyre not particularly useful but they’re good for when it’s too hot for the good cargos or just when I want a looser fit #keeping accessories simple with the studded belt a chain and some bracelets #and the shirt is this nice skeleton crop top I got at HT like two years ago the day after a concert #shoes r my high top vans #the ones with the blue and pink beads #also maybe adding one of my necklaces of those little metal balls #not both tho #not a stacking kind of day #if I’m not like #half asleep tomorrow #I might even add a bit of eyeliner #(ooh scandalous)#just the ‘guyliner’ smudgey pencil look tho

…. fuck. My best friends parents just kicked him and his girlfriend out…. This is my fifth experience proximate to homelessness and I’m a very socially isolated person. Housing is a right ffs I’m tired of my friends’ lives being ripped apart. We desperately need more social housing

#also hate to make this about politics (electoral) but if you vote for pp you’re making this worse #and I hate you for it #time to stack up in my two bedroom basement that already has another roommate who had been kicked out #I don’t know for sure they’re coming cause I live far from his work but if things get worse #sooner here #im so tired of glaringly obvious social issues being attributed to faith based claims when we literally wrote down what we did and we know #what we didn’t #we did what worked for a while and then we changed things and the outcome changed #some things are actually fucking simple #if poor people have to pay rents that cover the mortgage of another they can’t fucking save to get out of poverty #the only way to advance is to accrue debt but even then no jobs are paying under 30s well enough to afford their uncontrolled rents which #means their debt is more expensive and they don’t have savings #meanwhile those born with capital can borrow against it with cheap debt and download the cost #and then they pack us in to poor ply renovated family homes stuck unable to move out of what was advertised as student housing because #vacancy is so low that rents get tripled #plus the pandemic gave us 2000 dollars when most of us don’t even make that because of unstable work ie gig economy seasonal part time etc #fuckkkking mess #we need rent control and ubi and social housing and as wealth redistribution evens more balanced some of those can be eased

Well, I gotta give it to Strangeglove, hitting glumps really is uplifting my feelings. I think glumps being squishy and completely unaffected by it really just enables it. I'll give the glumps a break but also sorry it's rubbing off onto me a little bit as well

#@ me please just do the one task you have left to do today so you can enjoy your evening #and stop being afeared #anyway I love directing a choir but I hate being in charge of the admin I am so bad at it #if only I could beam into everyone's minds when to meet for practice #but I can't so um girlie if you don't tell anyone there's going to be practice tomorrow evening its not going to happen #I guess I am worried that if I announce it there's going to be a secret reason why it cannot be so #and then I will look like even more of a disaster #with the track record we've had it doesn't feel that unrealistic is the problem #I keep being gone every weekend and the past few practices I have been able to hold have been miserably attended #due to conflicts that were a surprise to me #because no one can communicate around here I guess #my other simple task of printing music today already went awry #when the girl misunderstood me at the ups store and printed wayyyy too many copies #shoulda been a karen but I was too scared so I just said thanks and paid THIRTY DOLLARS and took my huge stack of paper and left #aasdfghjkllkjhghjkjh that's not what I asked for!!!!!! but I'm just eating that extra twenty I guess #last time we met we didn't even sing bc there was like 4 people and we just made a schedule for the rest of the year #decided evening practice might be better #but only those four people are currently aware of that plan #and I have procrastinated trying to get the word out because I'm Scared for some reason #like it's literally not that serious but yikes yikes yikes #what I need is like. an assistant with good organizational skills #I can do the music. Me venturing briefly into 911 fics after Buck came out as bi: I am BEGGING people to stop basing their entire view of two men having later-in-life gay or bi awakenings on that one fucking reddit post about the guy thinking he's homophobic after his roommate came out.

#like im sure this story was cute the first or second or even fifth time #but when you see twenty variations of it in a fairly cursory search its not cute anymore. its actually really fucking annoying #that dynamic is not representative of the vast majority of mlm experiences and the fact that #the general impression of not just this fandom at this point but a number of big slash fandoms #would have you believe it is.....is kiiiiiiiiinda at the very heart of the problem that is this is what happens when you say your fiction #ABOUT a certain group - ANY given group - doesnt have to actually prioritize their voices or experiences or takes in any way shape or form #because what you're writing is just ABOUT them its not FOR them #its fine if i tune out the voices of anyone this fiction nominally represents because just because im writing it about them doesnt #mean it has to be written for them or even written with the actuality of them in mind or as any kind of goal #....I dont care what marginalized group youre talking about or how their marginalization stacks up against other identities in any way shap #or form....the point is very simple. get the fuck over this belief that fandom can in any way pride itself on being progressive or #transgressive or anything BUT regressive if it insists on deluding itself that the idea that you can write about people but convince #yourself that you dont have to view them as members of an actual group possessing an actual identity with actual real world experiences #and its fine for them to exist in your mind as just an abstract idea that doesnt need or deserve to be represented in fiction with any #effort made at actually representing them - is anything but a shit for brains take
